On 23 December 2025 at 00:41, a 24 k gold coin (5 g) and a 22 k fine gold ring (1.7 g) were purchased at Pure Gold Jewellers – Duty Free, Abu Dhabi Airport. Details of the purchase: • 24 k gold coin: 5 g • 22 k fine gold ring: 1.7 g • Total amount paid: 7,008 AED • Estimated actual value of the gold: approximately 2,030 AED • Promotion applied by staff: ~20% discount mentioned during purchase Despite the applied promotion, the final price was still significantly higher than the market value. The pricing at this Duty Free store does not accurately reflect current gold market rates, and the markup on the products is substantial. The store provides a warranty for the purchased items, but this does not offset the high cost relative to the actual value of the gold. Recommendations for future customers: • Always verify the current market value of gold before purchasing. • Be cautious with promotions or discounts, as the final price may still be far above market value. • Duty Free locations may charge substantially higher prices than standard retail stores, so check and compare prices carefully. This Duty Free store sells genuine gold with warranty, but the pricing is extremely inflated compared to the real value of the items. I do not recommend this store to anyone looking for fair pricing on gold. Customers should exercise caution and ensure they are aware of the market rates before completing any transactions.

UPDATE: There was one customer executive who reached out to me over email and she said since i signed the invoice, i cannot raise a complaint. Pathetic, I didnot except Abu Dhabi Airport authorities to let this business function in Airport. i explained clearly that once i paid the amount in my card thats when the reciept was given. PATHETIC, FRAUD, CHEATING FRAUD. The store caught me as i was travelling midnight and with explanations of currency conversations. didnot expect a fraud in Abudbhabi airport. i paid around 50% more than what i would get for price in Europe or India. DONT BUY HERE and DONT EVEN look. I have stayed in Abu Dhabi didnot get cheated even in the city but didnt expect to get cheated in Airport where i thought there would not be any SCAM. pathetic the guy said when i explained i was cheated told me to raise a complaint. raised in Abu dhabhi site, raised with pure gold customer care. no answers for any one.

I bought a diamond necklace set as a new year gift for my wife on 31 Dec 2025 as I was travelling through Abu dhabi airport to meet her for the new year. After lots of sweet talk and half truths when I decided to purchase the item I specifically asked the sales lady whether I will be able to exchange the item in case my wife doesn't like it. She promised I can go to any of their shops and exchange it without any issues. As it happened my wife did not like the necklace. When I called pure gold to discuss about exchanging the item they gave some weird calculations and said I will have to pay additional 1500 AED if I have to exchange. This was a real shock for. The lady at the kiosk never mentioned this in spite of me asking repeatedly. As I was in hurry I did not read the conditions in the invoice. I have purchased gold and jewellery from so many shops and have exchanged several times. This is the first time I have come across these conditions for exchange. I went to the shop in wtc and tried to convince them of the issue. I was ready to pay the difference in gold rate or making charge which is normally how other shops do. But they said they can't do anything as this is not in their hands. Well my advice is at least train your staff to be honest with customers when giving out information. My fault was I trusted the information provided and did not check the details in the invoice. My advice to future customers to this place would be, don't buy from them as even the price is higher than what is outside. Don't fall the sweet talk, check every detail if at all you are buying anything from there. Anyways this was my first experience with pure gold and probably the last

Scam alert !!!!!! While coming back we purchased 2gms of gold on 19th Jan for 2499 AED which is more than double to the original price (I.e 1085 AED).It’s pure day light robbery by the puregold jewellers..I didn’t expected these kind of things will happen in an airport like Abu Dhabi..Surprisingly all the recent google reviews pointed to the same issue.Don’t how they are doing business still in the airport

UPDATE- they portray on Google that they have excellent customer service and insist to email. I emailed 3 days ago and I have had no response … who do I contact ??? AWFUL SERVICE AND SCAM- DO NOT BUY Myself and my father visited 4 days ago we were travelling from London and had a stopover at Abu Dhabi airport. We thought gold in the UAE is usually better priced and better quality compared to London. However we got cheated completely. There’s many things that went wrong during our shop, first one being the sales assistant- I have the associate number on the receipt. She was very pushy with sales and was not being true or honest with us - she kept pushing to buy the most expensive items and barely showed items that were lower priced. She started getting annoyed when we liked the designs of the lower priced items - her sales seemed very forced. Now moving onto the dishonesty for the jewellery. We picked up a ring and a bracelet, for both items we asked multiple times how many grams of gold is in each item. For the ring she said "something around 5 grams" and for the bracelet she said "something around 3.5 grams", when we asked several times what’s the exact amount she said "don’t worry everything will be on the receipt when purchased , everything is genuine and the ring is around 5 grams and the bracelet is around 3.5 grams". WE GOT OVER CHARGED SEVERELY AND SCAMMED- once we checked the receipt we saw the ring was only 3.19 grams and the bracelet was 2.59 grams …. And for both these items we were charged around £1000 GBP. 5.78 grams of gold is NOT worth £1000 GBP no matter where the gold is from. High end jewellers in London charged me around £330 GBP for 3.3 grams of gold - this includes importing the gold from abroad. So how is it possible for 5.78grams to be £1000 GBP. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE - jewellery is an investment at the end of the day. One there was no professional customer service it was pushy false sales and two we were lied to about the quantity of gold. In Dubai airport the gold is weighed in front of you. There was nothing like that in Abu Dhabi airport as well as we were not being told the value rate of gold per gram. I do definitely want a refund / return on my items … I need to get in contact with the customer service team ASAP as I have a connecting flight back via Abu Dhabi in 2 weeks. It’s extremely unprofessional and shocking that stores like this are running in Abu Dhabi especially at the airport. You would expect this from a road side market not a pure gold shop in the airport. Prices could be higher in an airport BUT NOT triple times market value AND not dishonest sales associates that just want to make a sale and not honestly tell the customer how much gold is in the item. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED AND DISAPPOINTED. Will never go back apart from returning the items. And I have my receipts for everything.

Omar was fabulous and very patient with me while I took over one hour to select a piece. Great service and very professional. They have a decent selection and are very knowledgeable. I would say value-wise if you can get into the real souks outside of the airport you can negotiate on a per gram basis and everything here was fixed price.

I had a very disappointing experience with this store. The staff strongly persuaded me to buy an ornament, and once I purchased it, I discovered it didn’t actually contain the diamond I believed I was paying for. I felt completely misled. Their prices are extremely high as well—at other, more trustworthy places, you can get nearly double the value for the same amount of money. Overall, I left feeling deceived and regretful about my purchase.
